Traité théoretique et pratique de lithographie
Door
Uittreksel
One of the rarest early works on lithography, Gottfried Engelmann took up the mantle from Senefelder as the leading exponent in the art of lithography, and in his own right can be seen as the father of colour lithographic printing. He was awarded the Medaille d'Or and a prize of 2000 FF for his patented invention of chromolithography in 1838.This treatise is a methodical and systematic analysis of lithography not so much as an art form, but more as a practical printing process. Subjects include: acids and chemicals, papers, printing presses, printing tools, and preparation of the stones. The majority of the plates illustrate printing presses and various tools.
