Gifts and purchases of cupboards, trunks, tables, and other furniture enlarged the holdings, but it was not until younger objects were also acquired by the first-class collection that it took on the distinct character it has today. With this series of publications, a first attempt is being made to compile a comprehensive inventory catalogue: the two-part volume is devoted to cupboards and dressers from the period between 1650 and 1800 from germanophone regions or from Nuremberg. The publication records them from an art-technological perspective, arranges them in art historical terms,and documents them with numerous brilliant photo-graphs. Specialist authors describe further interesting aspects such as the types of wood, paper, and tools that were used, or historical locks and keys.
