Infinity complex landscape

Uittreksel

A photographic journey through Ukraine and its complex past. Following the Ukrainian crisis of 2014, Japanese photographer Yoshie Itasaka (born 1984) traveled throughout Ukraine for more than five years, capturing everyday life in Odessa, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mariupol, and Crimea, among other places. This publication invites us to see Ukraine's recent history through a new lens, the empathetic perspective of a Japanese artist. With her deeply personal travel journal, Itasaka aims to convey an understanding of the post-Soviet era in this region. Infinity Complex Landscape calls for a confrontation with the past and contributes to the healing of collective wounds. The book includes an essay by Professor Kimitaka Matsuzato, a leading specialist in post-Soviet history and politics, who, in 2019, received the prestigious Huttenbach Prize from the Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN). -- Amazon.com
