Bernardo Strozzi (1582?1644) was a remarkable master of the early Baroque, and was active in Genoa and Venice in the first half of the 17th century. Yet, despite his extraordinary talent, he has long been overshadowed by his more famous contemporary, Caravaggio. Only in recent years has his rich and multifaceted oeuvre begun to receive the recognition it deserves.
