- The “Thresor literaire” is the second of three tracts on penmanship by van de Velde which are often found bound together. The first is “Duytsche Exemplaren van alderhande Gheschrifften” (Haarlem, 1620), and the third, “Duijtscher ende Franscher scholen exemplaer-boeck” (Haarlem, n.d.). The three are known collectively by the title of the third. “Exquisitely written and skilfully engraved.... The works appeared under the name of Jan van de Velde, but seem to have been executed by the publisher, David Horenbeeck, who signed himself ‘Amateur de la plume’ and also ‘writing-master in the place of Van den Velde’” (Ekström).
