Abstract

The volume brings together two essays by Benjamin H.D. Buchloh - here in German for the first time - on the work of Richter, in which he links the theme of the panes of glass / glass panes with the motif of the "strips". In the first essay Buchloh elucidates on Richter's engagement with glass as a material, the conditions of seeing and the methods of its presentation, stemming from Duchamp's famous 'Large Glass' from 1919. The second essay explains how paint has become a simple industrial readymade.
