San Miniato al Monte in Firenze: mille anni di storia e bellezza

Abstract

"Founded in 1018, the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte contains, in its ten centuries of life between history and spirituality, the recognized chrism of unparalleled artistic and architectural casket, as well as that of one of the oldest religious houses entrusted to the Olivetan Benedictine congregation. The sacred building, the chapel of the Cardinal of Portugal, the small temple by Michelozzo and the elements fortified with the collaboration of Michelangelo Buonarroti are just some of the works analyzed in the volume, which offers for the first time to the public a complete sylloge of the complex, recently included by UNESCO in the World Heritage of Florence, through precise philological, aesthetic and documentary investigations"--Provided by publisher.
