Paula Rego: power games
Alternate title
Power games
Abstract
"The work of the Portuguese-British artist Paula Rego (1935-2022) charts the extremes of human experience. Her pictorial narratives expose the ubiquitous dynamics of power and powerlessness in our world, which she renders in a characteristic style blending a fabulist's imagination with reality's darkest facets. Rego's mainly female protagonists, facing inner strife and conflicts in family, society, and systems of political rule, emerge as contemporary and complex heroines." -- Provided by publisher.
