Abstract
In the book 'About Everything that looks like nothing', a lot of 'ordinary' people are applauded loudly. It is a book about the lives of mothers, about their sons and daughters, about angels and dogs. But also a book about care and love, about dreams big and small. About nights when you sometimes barely see your bed and about the need for an audience or just a hug. A book about busy families in which everything just works again (and sometimes it doesn't), a book about patting your head and the extra pot of soup, about getting up and continuing. 'About Everything That Looks Like Nothing' shows that there are many kinds of 'ordinary lives' in a city. For this book, photographer Sanne Donders followed 33 Rotterdammers from getting up to going to sleep, from young people to women who keep community centers afloat, from caring grandmothers and fathers to athletes and poets.
