Abstract

The Landesmuseum für Vorgeschichte in Halle, designed by Wilhelm Kreis, opened in 1918 and contains one of the most important archaeological collections in Germany. The author describes the architecture and history of the building, including the German expressionist murals conceived and executed by Paul Thiersch.
