Abstract

" ... our mandate: to advise this city museum on significant developments in the city's art production that should be acknowleged as contributing to the city's contemporary cultural life, and soon to be history. As a reliable jury, we came to a verdict. Our selection is not intended to be exhaustive or exclusive but forms a group of works we found to be investigative and open-ended; works which contemplated their own form or medium; works which questioned the context and conditions in which they were being produced; works which critiques issues which are timely and relevant to Amsterdam and the artistic production it gives birth to. By these tokens they are necessary.
