Historical book binding techniques in conservation
Abstract
"Book conservation is part of the conservation-restoration field. The vast variety of binding techniques, the diversity of the material and the artistic element demand deep understanding of books and is once again illustrated by the contributions in this publication. Various conferences and summer schools have been held in recent years, putting special focus on the historical book techniques in conservation, terminology and conservation theory. Nevertheless, there is still a great demand for more information. The authors hope to assist conservator-restorers with their contributions in one or the other way, bringing more attention to the value and beauty of historic and historical books and foster the research activities in the field of book conservation"--On back of cover.
