Art, life, legacy: Northern European paintings in the collection of Isabel and Alfred Bader

  • Alternate title

Northern European paintings in the collection of Isabel and Alfred Bader

Abstract

"Art, Life, Legacy: Northern European Paintings in the Collection of Isabel and Alfred Bader celebrates the extraordinary collection once held by Isabel and Alfred Bader. The works in this catalogue represent some of the finest pieces in The Bader Collection, and they likewise reflect the values embodied by Bader along with his first wife, Helen (Danny) Bader, and his second wife, Isabel Bader. Nearly a third of the paintings in this catalogue represent scenes from the Hebrew bible. The themes depicted in these paintings-generosity, faith, sacrifice, struggle, journey, and the importance of family-are a direct reflection of those values. Further works reflect Alfred Bader's lifelong fascination with Rembrandt van Rijn and how the field of Dutch and Flemish art continues to evolve and change with new generations of scholarship"-- Provided by publisher.
