Abstract
Jaap Leeuwenberg was curator of sculpture at the Rijksmuseum from 1948 to his retirement in 1969. Initially his research focused on Late sculpture Middle Ages, but in the 1950s and 1960s his view quickly broadened and developed into a prominent connoisseur of sculpture.
