Wandvakken, bedstede en overige onderdelen van betimmering 1626

anonymous, 1626

Panelling with bedstead. From the house at Gravenstraat 11 in Dordrecht. Oak, inlaid with bog oak, ebony, palmwood, limewood, rosewood and padouk, paintings in oil Dordrecht, 1626. This panelling gives us a good idea of a grand interior at the beginning of the 17th century. The fireplace, bedstead and a door are incorporated in the panelling. For the sake of warmth, the curtained bed was placed as close to the fireplace as possible. The construction is in keeping with the rules of classical architecture: columns rise from bases to support a frieze and cornice. The Imitation marble is used in the columnsfor the fireplace. Three small paintings above the fireplace represent the virtues, Faith, Hope and Love.
