Vase

anonymous, c. 1575 - c. 1599

Crafted in a unique way, this large vase consists of three components that were fired separately and then joined: the pear-shaped body, the elongated neck, and the lotusshaped top. The decoration was created in two stages, beginning with the application of the blue design. Following the initial firing, the green, yellow, and red hues were added, after which the porcelain was fired a second time.

  • Description

    Peervormige vaas van porselein met verdikking gemodelleerd in lotusbladeren bovenaan de nek, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw en op het glazuur groen, rood, geel en zwart. Het lichaam met een doorlopend landschap met bamboe, prunus en pijnbomen, vogel en wolken. Op de nek cartouches met perzik of pioenbloem tegen een grond van servetwerk, daarboven weer een landschap met rotsen, bamboe, pioen en vogels afgesloten door een band ruyi-motief. De vaas is opgebouwd uit drie, later aan elkaar gemaakte, horizontale delen. De zichtbare lijnen zijn bedekt met groen en zwart email in de vorm van een meanderband. Blauw-wit met emailkleuren.
