In het midden de toren van de Grote Kerk in Hoorn. Rechtsonder een dakkapel van het Statencollege, het voormalige gerechtshof, in Hoorn. Blad 22 verso uit een schetsboek met 52 bladen vervaardigd in de omgeving van Kampen, Hattem, Hoorn en Zwolle.

De eerste, middeleeuwse Grote Kerk in Hoorn brandde in 1838 af. In 1842 werd de opvolger voltooid naar ontwerp van Jan David Zocher. Deze werd in 1878 door brand verwoest, waarna de kerk opnieuw werd herbouwd. De toren op deze studie is de toren van de kerk naar Zocher. Recto geen voorstelling.
