Triktrakspelend paar

Jacob Matham (mentioned on object), c. 1621

This couple is playing tric-trac for money: the gambling kitty is on the table. Given its shape, it clearly contains an erotic allusion. The young man in the background has a large goblet in his hand; many drunkards fell victim to the temptations of the dice. The admonitions in Latin and Dutch are clear: drink, gambling and whoring are wicked indulgences.
