Entry

Set of three sand glasses (NG-MC-1118-1, NG-MC-1118-2, NG-MC-1118-3), one of 15 seconds, two of 30 seconds. The glasses are mounted between two wooden plates, held together by brass bolts.

Four glasses were presented to the Dutch Navy in 1862 by Mr De la Marche, hydrographic engineer of the French Navy.1J.M. Obreen et al., handwritten inventory list for items 944 to 1431, 1884, manuscript in HNA 476 RMA, inv. no. 1089, no. 1118; HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 19/3/1862 N401 (not found). The fourth glass, a 15 second glass, is lost.
