Teapot with a Filter and Iron Handle

anonymous, c. 1800 - c. 1899

This teapot has a round body and a square spout, and handles of iron. Inside the pot is a perforated stoneware infuser for the tea leaves. The pot’s shape deviates from traditional designs. For instance, the cover is hollow rather than convex, and the bottom is completely flat. It is possible that the teapot was inspired by objects made of metal.
