Tea Service on Stand

Johannes Engelbrecht, c. 1725 - c. 1730

This tea service was likely a gift from Elector Frederick Augustus II to Tsarina Elizabeth of Russia. She had a particular affection for Meissen porcelain and Chinese inspired decorative designs. The gilded silver stand was specially designed to elevate the set into a true highlight of a reception room.

    Stellage voor een theeservies van verguld zilver. De omtrek van het plateau is samengesteld uit rechte en ronde hoeken, de plint bestaat uit twee zware profiele met onderlangs afhangend Lodewijk XIV-ornament. Het geheel rust op vier voluutpoten, waarboven mascarons. Rand en draagvlak zijn versierd met bandwerk op een gegranuleerde grond. De ronde en ovale houders voor het servies rusten op poten en zijn versierd met chabraques en mascarons. Met zes theelepels.
