Explanatory note

  • Deze prent maakt deel uit van een set van 79 prenten (+ titelprent) met voorstellingen van antieke sculpturen in Rome. De prent is vervaardigd naar het beeld van Mars Ultor dat zich tegenwoordig in de Musei Capitolini (inv. Scu 58) te Rome bevindt. Dit beeld werd rond 1535 opgegraven op het Forum Nervae en werd lang beschouwd als een beeltenis van de koning Pyrrhus.
