Products Made of Natural Rubber at the Great Exhibition in 1851

Spicer Brothers, 1852

At the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London millions of visitors could gape at thousands of objects. The four volumes of the luxury edition of the jury reports contain well over 150 photographs. Even though the edition was limited to 137 copies, this still meant that about 21,000 photographs had to be hand printed, cropped, and pasted into each book. The Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz received this copy as a gift.
