Surface K.Y

Ayomi Yoshida (mentioned on object), 1987

For these prints, Ayomi Yoshida used the same four blocks but with different colour combinations. By doing so, she wanted to encourage viewers to look without preconceptions. Water is not inherently blue or clear: its appearance changes depending on circumstances. The sun, shadows cast by buildings along the shore: all affect the varying hues of the water’s surface.
