Nude with Crossed Arms
Anton Heyboer (signed by artist), 1952
Heyboer lived in Haarlem after World War II. Friends helped him find living and working space. He became acquainted with Erna, whom he married in 1954 and who is portrayed here. His first show was held in Haarlem, in 1956. This exhibition at Eva Bendien and Polly Chapon’s Espace Gallery signalled his breakthrough in the art world.
