Model van een tweebladige parabolische schroef in een frame op een grondplank. Het drukvlak van de schroefbladen is gebogen in de vorm van een parabool. De schroef hoort waarschijnlijk niet in dit frame, waar een veel grotere schroef in kan. Het model heeft een diameter van 85 mm, de naaf heeft een diameter van 8 mm en is waarschijnlijk te lang in verhouding tot de ware grootte, om in het frame te passen. Schaal 1:20 (afgeleid).

Wooden model of a two-blade parabolic propeller in a frame, mounted on a base.

The helicoidal surface of the pressure side of the blades is fashioned in a parabolic curve. The propeller probably does not belong to the frame, which can hold a much larger propeller. The model has a diameter of 85 mm, the boss has a diameter of 8 mm and was probably made disproportionately long in order to fit the frame.

Robert Hodgson’s parabolic screw aimed to drive the water backwards in lines parallel to the axis of the propeller in order to increase the effect of the screw.
