Model van het achterdek van een raderstoomschip met draaislede, incompleet. Geschut en bovenaffuit ontbreken. De onderslede bestaat uit een houten frame, draaiend over de draaicirkels op kogels in de hoeken. Het achtergedeelte van de slede zit met scharnieren vast op dek en moet opgeklapt worden om de slede de mogelijkheid te geven om te draaien. Het model laat specifiek het verwijderbare achterstuk van de reling zien, bestaand uit stukken potdeksel, steunders en huidsegmenten. Het voorste deel is vast en heeft kooiverschansing. Schaal 1:20 (afgeleid).

Explanatory note

  • Het model stelt de hekverschansing voor van het Engelse raderstoomschip Phoenix, dat in 1834 door de Nederlandse Marine werd opgemeten. Het was bedoeld als bijdrage voor de oplossing van de problemen rond de opstelling van het 10 duim Paixhans kanon van het Nederlandse raderstoomschip Phoenix (Rotterdam 1834-1836, lang 39 m, 7 stukken).

Entry

Construction model of the afterdeck of a paddle steamer with a slide and pivot, incomplete. Gun and carriage are missing. The slide consists of a wooden frame with ball supports at the four corners, running on the circular tracks of the pivot. The rear section of the slide is fixed to the deck with hinges and has to be raised to allow the slide to pivot. The model particularly demonstrates the removable aft section of the railing, consisting of sections of the gunwale, stanchions and boards. The fixed front part of the railing consists of hammock netting.

This model represents the gun position of the British paddle steamer Phoenix,1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 101. which was measured by the Dutch Navy in 1834.2HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 17/5/1834 N61, 20/5/1834 N85, 31/12/1834 N12. The model was made to help solve the problems of the 10-cm Paixhans gun position on the Dutch paddle steamer Phoenix (Rotterdam, 1834-36, length 39 metres, 7 guns).3A.J.
