The Virgin Giving the Child a Pear

This print was probably made after a third painting by Lucas of the Virgin and Child, the present whereabouts of which is unknown. The composition of the painting is seen in reverse in the print. Originally, Mary will have been depicted in the same direction as in the other paintings. The folds of her gown differ, however; they are more luxurious than those in the other prints of this subject
