Koning Josia staat op de trappen van de tempel en laat het teruggevonden wetboek van God voorlezen aan het volk van Israël. Josia heft zijn hand en zweert dat hij God zal volgen en diens wetten zal houden. Onder de voorstelling een verwijzing in het Latijn naar de Bijbeltekst in 2 Kon. 23.
