Cabinet

attributed to Martin Schnell, c. 1710 - c. 1720

The doors of this cabinet feature a mountainous landscape in which warriors are hunting a deer. A flock of birds flies above the flowering branches of trees growing out of the rocks. The decorations are inspired by Japanese lacquerwork, which was greatly admired by European monarchs and art lovers.

    Lakkabinet. De overhoeks geplaatste dubbel S-vormige poten van het onderstel zijn verbonden door een dubbel H-vormig kruis met ovaal kruisstuk die, net als de kwartronde fries met lade, vogels, insecten, planten, figuren en huizen toont in verhoogd goudlak met rood op zwarte grond. Op de twee kastdeuren jachttaferelen in een landschap met huizen; de zijkanten tonen landschappen met vogels. De kast is onderaan accoladevormig geschulpt; bovenaan een kartellijst. Grote verguld koperen versierde beslagstukken.
