Boven: de heilige Hieronymus, knielend met in zijn handen een crucifix en de steen waarmee hij zichzelf op de borst sloeg. Rechts op de grond zijn kardinaalshoed en links de leeuw. Onder: opdracht en twee kolommen Latijnse tekst.
