Gepolychromeerd beplankt mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een driemaster. Zestien geschutpoorten verdeeld over twee dekken. De scheg eindigt in een krul, die als schegbeeld dienst doet. Op de kraanbalk een rozet. Elliptisch hek van één verdieping, versierd met snijwerk, geen zijgalerij; roer met ronde roerkoning en afgerond roerblad. Het model is voorzien van alle rusten met jufferblokken. Zeeg naar voor en achter iets oplopend, één barkhout en één reehout. Gepiekt rondspant, scherp onderwaterschip. Schaal 1:40 (schaal op model).

Entry

Polychromed fully planked wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a three-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard painted white.

The side of the ship is fully planked over frame moulds, painted black, with a small white band running along the main gun deck. Sixteen recessed gun ports are indicated in two tiers. The position of the forecastle and quarterdeck is only suggested by their gun ports, as the waist is closed by a bulwark. The model has three channels. The sheer rises towards both ends. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated. The bow features a fully detailed beakhead with a floral scroll as a billethead, a cathead decorated with a rosette, both painted gold, and an anchor lining. The elliptical stern has a single-storey taffrail and is ornamented with white carvings. Below a round-headed rudder with a rounded blade is indicated. The hull is sharply S-bottomed and painted a metallic copper below the waterline. The position of three masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.

This model was added to the Navy Model Room in 1851.2HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 4/6/1851 N6. It represents the 26-gun sloop of war Java, 40 metres long, that was built by J. Vos in Amsterdam from 1843 to 1844.3J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 349. The inscription refers to a letter in the archive of the Department of the Navy.4HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 13/3/1846 N103.
