Entry

Wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a single-masted flat-bottomed ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. The sheer is almost flat. The sheer is almost flat. The stern is round, the sternpost is raked and fitted with a broad rudder. The hull is flat-bottomed. The position of one mast is shown in a truncated form.

The gunboat Schorpioen is first mentioned in 1796.1HNA 1.01.47.36 Admiraliteitscolleges, Losse Aanwinsten, inv. no. 17, Genealogie Asmus. The boat saw action against British naval ships on the River Eems in 1797, on the North Sea in 1798 and near the town of Lemmer in 1799. The vessel was broken up in 1809.
