Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een driemaster, boven het barkhout geboeid. Vier en dertig geschutpoorten op twee dekken. Achterschip met elliptisch hek van één verdieping zonder zijgalerij, daarboven een open geschutdek; recht roer met vierkante roerkoning. De zeeg loopt iets op aan beide uiteinden, een barkhout en twee reehouten. Gepiekt rondspant. Schaal ca. 1:48 (afgeleid).

Explanatory note

  • De de Waal van 60 stukken, lang 54 m, waarnaar dit model werd gemaakt, werd in Rotterdam gebouwd door P. Glavimans Jz. in 1828-1840; herdoopt Prins van Oranje in 1844 en verkocht voor de sloop in 1897.

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a three-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked. Thirty-four recessed gun ports are indicated in two tiers. The bow features an empty beakhead. The stern is elliptical and has a single-storey quarter gallery with an open gun deck above. Below the stern a straight, square-headed rudder is indicated. The sheer rises slightly towards both ends. One wale and two sheer rails are indicated, the former is painted black. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The position of three masts and the bowsprit are shown in a truncated form.

Waal of 60 guns, measuring 54 metres in length, was built by Pieter Glavimans Jansz (1768-1850) in Rotterdam from 1828 to 1840.
