Het waterreservoir bracht vanaf 1610 water van de Harcourt Hill naar de stad door loden pijpen. De decoratieve stenen ombouw is, toen het een obstakel voor verkeer werd, geschonken aan Lord William Harcourt, die de Carfax Conduit in 1789 verplaatste naar Nuneham Courtenay. Het is in 1951 geregistreerd als een monument, te vinden onder inventaris nummer: 1020965.
