Diaries

Herman Karel Westendorp, 1930 - 1931

Both Herman Karel and his wife Betsy kept diaries of their tour through Asia. They wrote about their acquisitions for the association as well as their photographs in Nikko: ‘trying to take snapshots, but the sunlight is weak.’ Mrs Westendorp-Osieck writes further: ‘In the main temple handsome green priests,’ the subject of her watercolour also on view here (adjacent).
