Decorative Designs

Roelf Gerbrands, 1901 - 1954

Flowering alder catkins, iris, and animals constitute the point of departure for these decorative designs by Roelf Gerbrands. They probably date from the 1920s. He took into account the purpose of the patterns in the flat and colourful styling: they were intended for printed furnishing textiles and wallpaper. Gerbrands also produced designs for calendars, posters, as well as stained glass.
