Decorated Paper

anonymous, c. 1780 - c. 1820

For centuries, paper decorated with printed or handmade patterns was used to cover books and to apply to furniture. F.G. Waller donated some 750 examples to the museum. Recently, the collection was expanded with sheets collected by the print historian Jan van der Waals (1947-2009), including some highly eccentric and exuberant examples.
