Chinese landscape with figures and a pavilion

Pieter Schenk (II), c. 1715 - c. 1725

This album contains 84 etchings: with only two exceptions, all the chinoiserie prints that are currently known by father and son Schenk. The prints were made in a pseudo-Chinese style that was then unknown in Northern Europe: their paintbrush-like lines and flattened perspective hark back to Chinese woodcuts and paintings.
