The French publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel established his own publishing house in 1837. He is best known for his lavishly illustrated editions of Jules Verne’s novels, which combined imagination and pedagogy. Framed with children absorbed in books from his publishing house, this brochure lists all the titles available in 1883, including Hetzel’s own stories written under the pseudonym P.-J. Stahl.
