Bow-shaped Brooch

Adrianus Steen, 1784

While this diamond bow now serves as a brooch, its original function was different. The jeweller Adrianus Steen fashioned the bow in 1784 as part of a monstrance for the Catholic Mozes en Aäronkerk in Amsterdam. The bow is set with rose-cut diamonds, only the top sides of which are faceted.

    Broche van zilver met diamanten in de vorm van een strik. Aan weerszijden van het middenstuk twee striklussen elk bezet met 20 diamanten. Door de lussen lopen de slippen van het lint. In elke lus een takje. Aan de achterzijde een nieuwe gouden speld.
