Border with Foliage Scrolls
anonymous, c. 1660 - c. 1690
Lace with small and refined, as well as large and imposing, motifs was made in Venice at the end of the 17th century. These are two variations of the first kind, the so-called Venetian raised and small scale lace. The French call it point de neige, literally snowflake stitch.
