Automatic Photograph of Georgie and Emilito in New York

Automatic Photograph Machine Co. (mentioned on object), 1896-07-10

At the end of the 19th century the camera was increasingly present, even in the wee hours of the morning. Photography and daily life ran virtually parallel to one another. Here Georgie and Emilito had their picture taken by an automatic photo booth in New York late one night as a souvenir of their evening out. Emilito wrote: ‘to dear little Georgie,’ noting the exact date and time.
