Jacob Campo Weyerman zit als schilder achterovergeleund op zijn stoel. Flora wijst hem op een bloemstilleven op de ezel rechts, maar wordt weggewuifd. Een vrouw met vleugels aan het hoofd en een spiegel in haar hand geeft de schilder een roskam (paardenkam). De roskam staat symbool voor de satire waar Weyerman zich op zal richten.
