Gong ren ye yu sheng huo: Spare-time life of Chinese workers
Alternatieve titel
Spare-time life of Chinese workers
Uittreksel
"How do Chinese workers spend their spare time after a good day's work? This is a question much in the thought of many people abroad. While Chinese workers are striving for a high level of socialist material well-being, they are also endeavouring to create a highly developed socialist culture. Their life after work is rich, varied, healthy and meaningful. During their leisure time, many Chinese workers study to enrich their cultural and technical knowledge so as to improve their ability for building socialism. Many of them take part in various kinds of recreational and sporting activities to build up their physical strength and willpower so as to take a rest and enjoy cultural life in a positive way. The hobbies many workers pursue are varied and rich; and there are also many who use their off hours to carry out a wide range of activities to help other people. On holidays and festivals many go sight-seeing with their families attracted by the beautiful rivers and mountains and the picturesque scenery of their own country. The rich, varied, healthy and fruitful spare-time activities have added joy to their life, elevated their thoughts, feelings and moral standards, and encouraged them to work hard for the realization of socialist modernization, and for a still more beautiful and better tomorrow. Chinese trade unions take seriously the task of organizing and guiding the spare-time activities of workers. They have set up many cultural centres, clubs, stadiums and gymnasiums, part-time schools, colleges and universities, and technical exchange centres. These are the places where workers spend a lot of their spare time and where trade unions link closely with their members. This picture book contains the following: 1. family life; 2. love and marriage; 3. recreational activities; 4. spare-time study; 5. sports; 6. social work; 7. hobbies; 8. convalescence and retirement; 9. tourism and 10. happy festivals. Most of the photos are provided by workers who are amateur photographers"-- Foreword.
