Uittreksel
The art of Edouard Baribeaud (born 1984) is characterized by his bilingualism and his dual cultural identity. The son of a French father and a German mother grew up in France, studied in Paris at the École National Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and lives and works in Berlin since 2010. In his works, he not only unites different styles, but also allows the everyday to meet the mythical, leads archaic figures through modern environments, and actually combines experiences with fictitious memories. Baribeaud proves to be a brilliantly crafted storyteller who takes us on a fantastic journey between West and East. This, Baribeaud's first monograph, presents the exhibitions 'The Hour of the Gods' (2014-2015), 'The Nocturnal Vault' (2015-2017) and 'An Old Story for Our Modern Times' (2018) and the artist-designed Hermès cloth (2016). It also includes essays by Imran Ali Khan, Pay Matthis Karstens and Sabine Thümmler.
