On a summer day in 1840, Peter Faber took Denmark's first photo on Gråbrødertorv in Copenhagen. The new technique caused wild excitement. Compared to painting, it was cheap and quick, and photography was so detailed that people thought it showed reality itself. But the world is not black and white. It doesn't stand still either, and the photographer has always put his own stamp on the image. Nevertheless, many people rejoiced that the objective was lost when digital cameras gained prominence in the 1990s. Today, we are skeptical when we are fed fictional images created with the help of artificial intelligence. Say orange to Mette Kia Krabbe Meyer, senior researcher at Det Kgl. Library that says more than 1,000 words with a snapshot of Danish photo history from silver grains to pixels.
