Ron, Bibliotheca Tinctoria, no. 40: “The first edition of a nineteenth century English handbook of applied chemistry, the most important part of which is that about dyeing and textile printing, pp. 221-444. There was an American edition published in New York also in 1844, proof of the intense competition between the British and American textile manufacturers at this period. This copy was inscribed by ‘William Bradley, Birmingham, 1844.’ (Charles Wood, cat. 167, # 112)
