Silver medal with on recto a woman in Roman dress with diadem, representing Industry, holding laurels in her outstretched right hand and resting the left hand on a coat of arms. On verso an inscription in oak leaves with three cartouches is made, one depicting a plough, one a steam engine and the third a sailing ship, and below them the crowned coat of arms of the city of Haarlem. The medal has a Rijksmunt mark of a Mercury staff, in a square box (NG-MC-1114-A).

The medal was awarded by the Nederlandsche Maatschappij ter Bevordering van Nijverheid (Dutch Society for the Promotion of Industry) to the Department of the Navy for its participation in the 1861 Algemeene Nationale Tentoonstelling van Nijverheid (Industrial Exhibition) in Haarlem.²²HNA 2.12.01 Min.
