Vom Wesen der Landschaft: Rembrandt van Rijn. Jan van der Kooi

Abstract

How do you capture the soul of a landscape? The second showcase exhibition during Rembrandt Year 2019 presents two artists determined to find an answer: Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, who sought to capture the atmosphere, the uniqueness, of a particular stretch of land, and Frisian artist Jan van der Kooi, who uses traditional working methods and drawing techniques to get at the inner being, the intrinsic power, of people, animals, and landscapes. Van der Kooi?s (*1957) more than 150 sketchbooks will be on view for the first time in this exhibition and will be shown alongside a selection of Rembrandt?s landscape etchings.00Exhibition: Draiflessen Collection, Mettingen, Germany (06.09.2019 - 19.01.2020).
